Paris Saint-Germain Edges Marseille on Penalties to Secure French Super Cup in Kuwait.

PSG players celebrating

PSG has now won the season-opening trophy on 14 different times.

The Parisian giants required a dramatic leveler followed by a successful penalty shootout to get past Marseille in the Gulf and capture a record-extending fourth consecutive French Super Cup victory.

The European champions seemed to be coasting towards a straightforward triumph in the showdown between the Ligue 1 winners and the French Cup holders after the French winger opened the net in the opening stages.

However, Marseille struck two times late to seize a shock advantage. Initially, Mason Greenwood scored from the spot-kick, before Willian Pacho unfortunately directed the ball into his own net for an own goal.

In a remarkable turn of fortune, the Portuguese striker grabbed a vital leveler in the final seconds to force the contest into a deciding shootout. PSG goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier then stood as the hero, stopping crucial kicks from O'Riley and Traore.

In the shootout, Goncalo Ramos, the midfielder, Nuno Mendes, and the young talent all converted successfully for PSG to seal a convincing penalty victory.

The record champions Paris Saint-Germain, who faced last season's Ligue 1 runners-up Marseille after achieving a domestic double, have now lifted this competition for the 12th time in the past 13 seasons.
